muh ha ha ha...
so i suppose i can finally let the cat out of the bag. the "oh so secret" project i've been working on for months was for a show that aired on the scifi channel last night. you see, i was hired to create a fan site that was going to be a part of the show, the burried secret of m. night shyamalan. the "documentary" was supposed to follow mr. night and get a closer look at his filmmaking process, but the doc director dug too deep and discovered night's big secret. a publicity stunt was conjured from the beginning saying that night got upset about what they found about his life and was going to sue scifi for airing the show. but under the contract, scifi had legal authority to air the show anyway, which they did last night.
so not only was the website included in the show, it was simultaneously used for marketing the show. very clever! i was pretty impressed when i checked the web stats last week, seeing we had 3000 unique users. i thought that was pretty good for a fan site of someone not too too many people are even familiar with. but when i checked the stats today, there were 12,000 new users just from last night alone!!! people actually watched the show and looked for the site from the show! amazing how that works!
next when i checked the actual site this morning, the chat room was absolutely flooded with users. we kinda set that up as a fake chat not expecting people to actually use it. but low and behold, they were in there, all of them talking about the validity of the show. the site was super sloooow, like friendster's golden days. too many people! amazing.
and the forum discussions... HA! talk of life after death, ghosts, even aliens. friggin scifi freaks. i love it! nice that all the hard work is actually paying off.
