one reality show i actually want to be on is the amazing race. i know, reality tv is ridiculous, the concepts are way out of hand, and it's on every channel every night of the week. but come on people, you have to admit that the idea behind the amazing race is really good. you and one other person (best friend, significant other, or relative) are a team racing around the world for a chance to win a million bucks! sounds pretty great to me. sure you have to do some crazy stuff, but of course they're not going to make earning a cool mil very easy.
the most fascinating part of the show is not the awesome places they get to go, but the socialogical aspects of the two people forming each team. they have to travel together for ungodly hours (like from argentina to russia after a 20 hour bus ride!), they have to perform scary tasks (like hangliding off of a mountain), and the most intersting challenge is when they have to pick one team member to do something awful (like eat a huge bowl of caviar!). the person that gets picked to perform the challenge always gets pissed at the one who doesn't... creating a rift in the team. the only thing the other person can do is cheer on their teammate (and thank god they didn't have to do it). it's good shit.
if i were to do the show, my ideal teammate would be wanna. she and i have traveled many times together and we do it well. regardless, we are always blessed with good fortune no matter where we are, even if we're penniless with no place to stay, something amazing will happen. we can become friends with complete strangers in a matter of minutes. i have an incredible sense of direction, she speaks a ton of languages and is used to foreign countries and we're both familiar with long flights. only problem, she doesn't have a US passport dammit (yes, i actually went online to get the entry form). oh well, i'll just have to wait til she gets hitched to an american boy.
