my million dollar idea

so after my last post about the crazy voting on american idol, and after hearing there were 65 million votes called in last night, and after ariel sent me this, i got to thinking.

why doesn't a major network turn this year's election in a reality show, a la american idol/amazing race/survivor???

it's brilliant really. not only would it be fascinating to watch... add a little drama to seemily boring speeches, rallies, campaign routes...
it would get the voting public EXCITED TO VOTE! i always get interested in the campaigning pre-election day, but it's always so dry.
so and so candidate goes on and on about public policy, foreign policy, domestic problems, blah blah blah. BUT what if they focussed on the "behind the scenes"--an argument between kerry and his campaign manager, a romantic interest between the interns in the campaign headquarters, the bus breaking down on the way to the speech in kansas. it could be so good! not only would the dummies of america get excited about the candidates, they might get excited about the ISSUES!

and how about this for a great gimmick--each week, the public calls in a vote to see who they want to win. a real live tracking of the polls!!! so so good!
and here's the kicker... i've already got the slogan--"america votes and we all win!" and a title: "the REAL amazing race." kidding. any ideas, send em my way.

ok major network, who's got an open slot for the fall season? it's gonna be HUGE!
