travel books
i need a new book to read for my upcoming trip. i want something on the light side (nothing to heavy or heady), maybe funny, well-written of course, and something that would be good to read while travelling. maybe a book of travel essays? i don't know, you tell me. please send any ideas of your favorites. thanks!

I just read Inventing Victor by Jennifer Bannan. It's a collection of essays and overall a good read and good for a trip.
No Touch Monkey by Ayun Halliday
(funny travel essays)
thanks for the suggestions.
oh, and thanks amanda! great idea. the less to carry on the way, the better. :)
hey anonymous #2... i was in the bookstore yesterday and couldn't wait. i found no eat monkey and have been loving it. perfect suggestion. thanks!!
Books I really enjoyed on my travels:
Tales of the City (and subsequent books)
Super trashy San Fran soap opera style books. So quick to read and SO entertaining.
Time Traveller's Wife
A little sci fi, a little literature, a little romance. LOVED IT!
Life As We Know It
A collection of essays from Salon.com writers
David Sedaris: so good- "me talk pretty one day" it's in softback and it's awesome. Also "naked" and "dress your family in demin" but start with "me talk..." He is the reason I want to write. he's the fucking BOMB.
